Our steel tools trim hangnails and loose dead skin around the nail. The nipper has a 3/4 jaw in 4CR13 stainless steel, a spring, a silicone grip that holds with wet hands and a sleeve that covers the jaw between uses. Both scissors run 3.7 inches with curved, extra-fine blades: one has a pointed tip and a mirror polish, the other round finger loops that also suit brow trimming. Dermatologists advise against cutting the cuticle itself, and our story on cleaning nail tools gives their reasons.

Buffers are counted by the pack because, in a salon, each block serves a single client and then goes in the trash. The mini blocks are double-sided 100/180 grit on a foam core, 1.4 inches long, in packs of 50 or 100. For shine, the 1000/4000 kit comes as 20 large or 50 mini blocks. Rounding out the shelf, the 12-piece set gathers clippers, a nipper, scissors and a pusher in a PU leather case.
